Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
When a name or case number is entered into a search tool, the entry is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies any result. Leelanau County Court Docket does not keep or log the search terms entered through those tools.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When a visitor sends an e-mail, we retain the message so that a response can be made. The message is kept within our organization and is not shared outside it unless disclosure is required by a legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers receive routine technical information when a page is loaded. That information can include:
- The IP address assigned to the device
- The browser and browser version in use
- Device type and operating system
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them
- The referring site, when one is provided
- Timestamps associated with page views
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device that help us understand general site use, including traffic patterns and pages visitors leave quickly. Analytics services aggregate that information. A browser can be configured to block cookies, although some site functions may then work differently.

No Court-Record Data on File
Leelanau County Court Docket does not host, maintain, compile, or sell a database of court dockets or personal case files. It provides general routing information for Leelanau County courts, clerks, and MiCOURT Case Search. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not assembled into consumer reports or files about other people.
Michigan court records are governed by MCR 8.119 and the procedures of the court that keeps the file. A court record request is distinct from an ordinary Leelanau County FOIA request for county administrative records.
Third-Party Search Partners
Search boxes on the site are operated by third parties. Information entered into a tool is handled under that provider's privacy policy, not this policy. Each provider controls its own retention and disclosure practices, and we do not control those practices. Review the provider's policy before submitting a search.
Links to Other Websites
The site links to court, clerk, statewide search, legal-aid, and outside search resources. A click to one of those resources leaves Leelanau County Court Docket, and the destination's privacy policy then controls the visit. Review that policy before providing personal information.
Some advertising partners may track activity across websites to provide targeted advertising. Any such tracking occurs through those partners' systems rather than ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Limited information may be available to:
- Search partners that process queries submitted through the site
- Analytics providers used to measure traffic and performance
- Advertising networks that place ads on our pages
- Law-enforcement agencies or government bodies when a valid legal order requires disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
We use standard security practices intended to protect the information we collect. No internet-connected system can be made completely secure, however, and we cannot promise that a security incident will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from people under 18. If a minor is believed to have supplied information, contact us so that it can be removed promptly.
Your Data Rights
Michigan and federal law can provide data rights depending on the request. This policy concerns information provided to this private resource. Access to a Leelanau County court file instead follows MCR 8.119, court access procedures, and any applicable restriction or redaction rule. A visitor may:
- Request a copy of information we hold about that visitor
- Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate
- Ask that personal information be deleted
- Opt out of certain processing where that option applies
